Heartless by Marissa Meyer

This book is awesome. And Marissa Meyer is one of my favorite authors. She also wrote Cinder. So, this is a dark origin story for the infamous Queen of Hearts. Catherine is the best baker in all of Hearts, and she likes it like that. She has no interest in being a proper lady like her mother. But then something horrifying happens. The king proposes to her—or he tries to before he’s so rudely interrupted. But Cath’s interests lie less in the king, and more in the handsome court joker, Jest. But Cath doesn’t know what to do. She’s juggling love, a dream to open a bakery, and a fearsome Jabberwock. She meets the Mad Hatter before he goes mad, even! Anyone and everyone should read this. It’s awesome.
