Wave by Diana Farid

This was a quick read, but wow, it covered some heavy topics. It’s a novel in verse. Ava is struggling with mild OCD and her mom wanting her to be a doctor—when she doesn’t want to be a doctor. Ava copes by surfing with her best friend Phoenix and singing in her room. But she also has to deal with jerks at the beach being racist because of her Persian heritage. This is a pretty good book, but be warned, if you don’t want a sad read, this book isn’t for you.
