This book was pretty good. Lots of magical heists. Arian and her twin brother Liam are thieves. They steal magical artifacts from the Empire that occupies their city. Arian tries to forget her sorrows, like her mother is dead, her father is absent, and her brother is using magic in a city where magic is forbidden. Then Cavar comes to town. Cavar is part of the Weavers, a neutral group who live outside of human civilization. Cavar and his companion Linna need the twins’ help to steal an artifact with the ability to rip a person’s soul away from them. Arian and Liam are familiar with this artifact. It used to belong to their mother. The group makes a plan to infiltrate the Bastion, the strongest fortress in the city, and recover the artifact before it’s too late.
