This was a really good book. Mattie has a plan. She’s going to get as many scholarships as she can to pay for college, then she’s going to help her mom start a new life with Mattie’s little sister. And Mattie’s smart, her plan could work. But then her world crumbles around her. Mattie, her mom, and her little sister run away from Mattie’s mom’s abusive boyfriend, leaving the three of them living in their car. After a terrifying few days, they develop a routine—go to school, go to the library until their mom picks them up, then sleep in the car again. But then one day, their mom doesn’t get them from the library, leaving Mattie and her sister alone on the streets with no car, a dying phone, and no mom. Can Mattie find her mother and save herself and sister before it’s too late…and something worse happens?
