This was definitely a fun read, reminiscent of The Hunger Games. While Earth was once colorful and vibrant, the planet has now been reduced to a never ending winter, with temperatures sometimes staying as low as -70 °F. However there is one exception, a city built on a rare geothermal source called Snowglobe. To live in the last warm place on earth, you have to be one of two things: an Actor, or a Director. The lives of Actors are constantly being recorded for the entertainment of the people outside. The Directors are the ones who edit the footage. Jeon Chobahm has always been told she looks near identical to Goh Haeri, Chobahm’s favorite Actor. But Chobahm has always aspired to be a Director. Then one day one of the most famous Directors shows up at Chobahm’s doorstep to deliver horrifying news…and to offer a deal.
Goh Haeri is dead, having recently committed suicide. Director Cha wants Chobahm to be the replacement Haeri. She already looks the part, and with a little skill, she’ll fool everyone into thinking she’s the real Haeri. Hesitantly, Chobahm agrees. And while living in Snowglobe is amazing, she just can’t shake the guilt of stealing a dead girl’s identity. And Snowglobe has some dark secrets hiding in the basement, and the real Goh Haeri’s life wasn’t all it was cracked up to be.
