Thank you to Netgalley for an advanced reader’s copy in exchange for an honest review. This was definitely good. I suspect it’ll become one of the big romantasy books. In Cendor, phoenix racing is the most popular sport. It’s also dangerous. So when Kel’s racing team is suddenly in need of a new rider, she begrudgingly turns to her rival, Warren Coupers, nicknamed Coup. He’s one of the most successful phoenix riders out there, but he’s also the most reckless. Not to mention very annoying. After footage of Kel and Coup calming a dangerous phoenix gets leaked, a rich businessman becomes interested in the team, and more specifically, Kel’s phoenix Savita. Racing for Cristo Industries means more money, meaning Kel can save her farm, but as a conspiracy unfolds, Kel and her team realize that it might not have been a good decision. Definitely a fun read for fans of romantasy and phoenixes.
