Lily Allerton and Chrysanthemum Quinn hate each other. Why, you might ask? Well, ever since Chrys moved to Thornhaven three years ago, the two of them have been constantly competing. First, in the annual witch fair, and now for valedictorian. Lily’s Tarot spread at the beginning of senior year tells her that for her to win, she’ll need a boyfriend. At least, that’s how she interprets it. She sets her sights on the new boy, despite the fact that she’s not attracted to him…and has never been attracted to a boy. Chrys, having made friends with the new boy already, makes it her mission to protect him from Lily. They get angrier and angrier with each other, and soon they’re flinging hexes at each other. Unfortunately, that much negative energy paired with amateur witches leads to bad things happening. In this case, a curse that affects the whole town. Lily and Chrys must begrudgingly work together to stop the curse and save Thornhaven, but as time goes on, they start to realize that their hate for each other might have been unfounded. And maybe, just maybe, they might start to develop…other feelings for each other.
