The Storm Runner by J. C. Cervantes

This was awesome right from the start. Zane lives in New Mexico, climbing the volcano in his backyard and playing with his dog Rosie. When a pretty girl named Brooks appears and says he’s in danger, Zane doesn’t know what to think, should he listen to her, or should he not. But when demon runners straight out of Maya mythology show up, he starts thinking that Brooks was right. It gets bad when a demon runner kills Rosie. Zane must lead a quest in order to defeat Ah-Puch, the Maya god of death. He meets allies and enemies along the way, and he kills his fair-share of demon runners. Read this, it’s amazing. Oh wait, I forgot something. One of Zane’s legs is shorter than the other, so he has a limp.
