The Girl Who Lost Her Shadow by Emily Ilett

Huh. It was a good book. I mean, it’s not the best, but it was good. On her birthday, Gail loses her shadow. She’s not surprised. Everything’s falling apart and it’s her sister’s fault. Ever since their dad left, Kay has been sinking. She barely eats, she never leaves the house, and she won’t swim with Gail anymore. Gail goes to tell Kay, but then Kay’s shadow runs away too. Gail knows she must find the shadows, or nothing will ever be the same again. Gail gathers her courage and chases the shadows through forests and caves, she meets storms and an unexpected friend who can talk to birds. She finds a pearl and a map. Can Gail find what the shadows are searching for before she loses herself completely? An endearing story about sisters.
