Akata Witch by Nnedi Okorafor

Hi, everyone! I’m SO sorry I haven’t posted in so long. This book was awesome! It took me a while to finish because I was in the middle of a different series. Sunny, an albino Nigerian girl, doesn’t fit in anywhere, and she doesn’t know why. Then she finds out. She is a “free agent”, someone with magical powers. But a free agent isn’t a normal magical person. She had a magical ancestor, but she’s not a pure Leopard person. A Leopard person is a person who has a magical spirit line. Sunny makes friends with Orlu, Chichi, and Sasha (by the way, Sasha’s a boy, not a girl). Just as Sunny’s settling in as a Leopard person, the magical council asks them to help capture a career criminal who also knows magic. Can they even hope to combat someone who’s powers outnumber theirs so greatly?
