Pegasus: The Flame Of Olympus by Kate O’Hearn

Wow, I’m a mythology geek. This was a great book, for sure. During a huge storm, Emily sees the top of the Empire State building blown off by lightning, and then something astonishing happens. Pegasus crashes on to her roof. Emily can barely believe her eyes. Pegasus has been in a ferocious battle, and is gravely wounded. Emily can only think of one person who might be able to help Pegasus. A boy who’s always drawing winged stallions. The meanest boy in school. Joel DeSilva. Emily finds out that Joel is nice on the inside. They try to heal Pegasus, but when vicious four-armed monsters attack them, they must take a panicked flight over Manhattan. Emily is hurt badly. They crash into Central Park, and meet Diana, the legendary huntress, and she tells them that Olympus has been overwhelmed by Nirads, the four-armed monsters. Pegasus must find the Flame of Olympus, the spirit of Olympus, which is hidden in a human girl. To save earth and Olympus, the girl must willingly sacrifice herself. But they have a dilema. The CRU, a secret government agency who deals with extraterrestrials. The CRU is hunting Pegasus down, and therefor is hunting Emily. Can Pegasus get the Flame to Olympus before the Nirads—or the CRU—ruin everything?
