Daughter of the Deep by Rick Riordan

So, I am a massive Rick Riordan fan. He also wrote the Percy Jackson series. I preordered this book a day before it came out, and it arrived the day after it came out. I really loved this. It reminded me a lot of The Neptune Project by Polly Holyoke. Ana Dakkar is a freshmen at Harding Pencroft academy, HP for short (they’ve heard all the Harry Potter jokes, don’t go there). HP teaches its students all about the ocean. Graduates go on to become the most talented marine scientists, navel warriors, and underwater explorers in the world. Ana and her classmates are on a field trip when they witness a tragedy that will change their lives forever. The teacher with them tells Ana that HP and their rival school, Land Institute, have been fighting a cold war for over a hundred and fifty year, and now that cold war is getting heated. Ana and her friends must use all the nautical skills they have to get to a secret base in the middle of the sea, where the Nautilus, an ancient submarine that belonged to Captain Nemo rests. Rick Riordan intended this to be a sort of sequel to 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea by Jules Verne. Now, I haven’t read that, but I’m planning on reading it soon, and all my viewers will get to read my post about it.
