The Wishing Spell by Chris Colfer

Hello, everyone, sorry I haven’t posted in a while. I was hesitant to read this—I don’t know why—and have held out on reading it for a long time. Now that I’ve read it, I love it! Alex and Conner aren’t very excited for their birthday. They aren’t expecting any gifts, and they certainly aren’t expecting a visit from their grandmother. She gives them her old story book, The Land of Stories. Later in the week, Alex is reading the book, and it starts…glowing. Every night, it glows brighter, and Alex starts to worry her mom will find out about it. Then Conner finds out about it. He worries that Alex will go through the book, and into the Land of Stories. So of course, they both go into the Land of Stories. They almost die almost immediately. Then a frog-man comes and helps them. He tells them about The Wishing Spell, a spell that when assembled, grants one wish, no matter what it is. Alex and Conner hope to use this spell to get home. They must find the items for the spell first though, and that won’t be easy. They meet Goldilocks, Red Riding Hood, Cinderella, Snow White, and many more fairy tale characters. Can Alex and Conner assemble the Wishing Spell and get home—before it’s too late? P.S. Please comment if you have any suggestions for what I should read next!
