Dear Medusa by Olivia A. Cole

This is actually the first novel in verse I’ve read, and wow, I’m so glad I did. This book is amazing. Alicia is called many things, all derogatory, all things that mean “That girl has too much sex”. But what other people don’t know is that she was sexually abused by everyone’s favorite teacher, and trauma made her an entirely different person. Her best friend insulted and abandoned her, she quit the track team, and above all, she’s lonely. Despite all the guys she’s slept with, Alicia Rivers is very, very lonely. But then she makes a friend in Deja, who doesn’t criticize her. And she slowly finds other friends in a group of girls who all are going through many different things. And then there Geneva, the new girl who Alicia starts to realize she has a crush on. Anyway, if you’re okay with reading a book that covers heavy topics, then you need to read this. Like right now, get to reading.
