I’ve been meaning to read this book for a long time, and man, I’m glad I finally got around to it. This was really cool, and I may or may not have read late into the night to finish it.The year is 2380, and Tyler is top of his class in Aurora Academy. He’s prepared for the Draft, which dictates which team leaders get first pick of their squads. Everyone knows Tyler’s going to place first. That is, until he misses the Draft in order to save a girl who’s been in cryo sleep for two hundred years. So Tyler gets stuck with the dregs of the academy that no one else wanted: a scientist with a habit for shooting her bunk mates, a cocky tech whiz who seems determined to annoy everyone, and an outcast alien warrior. Oh, and Tyler’s twin sister, and his best friend. For their first mission, they get sent on a seemingly pointless supply run, only to discover that something much bigger than any of them know is going on. And that the girl Tyler rescued may or may not have stowed away with them. Our quirky team of misfits includes…Tyler (team leader), Scarlett (diplomat), Cat (pilot), Zila (scientist), Finian (tech whiz), Kal (alien warrior), and last but not least, Auri, the girl Tyler rescued. Auri is a mystery. She seems to have powers, but she has no idea how she got them. The big bad scary government people seem to be after her, but she has no idea why. So, Tyler and his squad of losers have to travel the galaxy to figure out who—and what, possibly—Auri really is. And maybe start a war on the way. Nobody panic.
